You'd think Small Tony's Philly cheese steak be a more fitting name for this restaurant because the amount of meat included was so little. I had high hopes for this place but was disappointed. Look at the pictures and decide for yourself. Having been to Philly, there should be at least 3x as much meat in this sandwich. Couldn't believe my eyes when I folded the bun shut and there was this thin layer. Great service but let down by the food. Skip if you're looking for a sub place. Size matters... In regards to meat in a sandwich!
Stopped by here for lunch.
We were cheerfully greeted as we walked towards counter.
The Philly cheese steak is to die for! Made with love by the chef.
Plus they have funnel fries, a perfect dessert to share with my husband.
08/26/2023: Philly cheesesteaks are so good in my opinion and I had high hopes for Big Tony’s. The location was in a nondescript strip mall off of Preston, not too far north of 635. The place was decked out in a ton of Philly love. I arrived around dinner time and I was the only one in the restaurant minus the 3 employees. The place was above comfortable dining temperature. Probably at least 80-85 inside. Outside was hotter, but I wouldn’t want to eat in the restaurant at that temperature. The place is facing west and the sun was blaring through the storefront.
I ordered 2 cheesesteaks and the combo fried seafood. The cheesesteaks were both substantial, but fairly salty. The bread was nice and a a good chew to it. The meat was grilled fresh, but over seasoned. The whiz was a little too much. I did like the onions. The mushrooms in one sandwich were canned. That was disappointing. The fried seafood wasn’t that great either. Not really fresh. Just frozen “catfish”, shrimp, and fries. Probably not gonna go here again. I have had better cheesesteaks. Sorry for the bad review. Wish I didn’t have to write one.
The fries… 10/10. I really wanted to like the cheesesteak but unfortunately did not. The hoagie was great but the meat was bland and the cheese was not melty so the sandwich ate very dry. I did try the sauce and that was alright. It’s not the best cheesesteak you’ll have but the service is great and did I mention the fries are amazing!
Got the broad street cheesesteak regular with regular and spicy fries. Food was good, ordered to go so would have been better fresh and hot.
Great service and awesome food!! Loved the spicy fries with my cheesesteak. Proportions were great. Ended up meeting Tony himself and found out he is a West Philly native. Very happy to have an authentic Philly cheesesteak spot down south.
Big Tony's is all that however, lately there have been some rough days. My family and I have been regulars for some time and recently our orders have been incorrect. This is the third time our wings have not come with fries, and all the …
This is a hole-in-the-wall spot in a shopping center serving dozens of riffs on the classic cheesesteak. The food here is really decent tasting, and the staff is pretty friendly. However, the presentation could use a lot of work and the …
